These are different bike builds FunMatters Motorsports has sponsored. We are proud to present Bike Nerds, the build process along with the final product of these bikes.
This build is personally special to me. After all, it is the first big bike I had ever refreshed, much less owned for myself.
Of course like anyone I was excited to get on the bike. I started off with simple stuff: a seat cover, new chain and some new tires. Which literally got me rolling. The exhaust was blown out but that was for later on down the road.
The more I learned about bikes, especially bigger ones, the more I realized that a bike with remote reservoirs probably wasn't the best choice for a first bike. In hindsight, a 450 wasn't the best first big bike. I remember I was so excited to work on the forks. I pulled them right off, got the reservoirs off, and cleaned everything up, including the brakes. I had my dog with me in the barn.
After finishing the forks. I started on the exhaust. I got myself a dent remover kit and undented what turned out to be a full titanium Yoshimura exhaust.
I repacked the muffler and slapped it all back together to figure out it shot flames. looking into it I figured out that it was a fully built race engine.
There is much more that has been done. I will try and update it as soon as possible.
I went to Tennessee to buy this bike for quite cheap. It obviously had very low hours but I still don't know the full history. It had an incorrect rear wheel bent bars and was obviously in some sort of wreck.
